Урок в 11 классе

Lesson 5: “ What Did You Fill About…?” Что вы думаете о…?

Учитель Лаврова И.В.


Objectives:

  • to practice reading/ listening for specific information;

  • to practice listening for the main idea;

  • to practice communicative skills;

  • to take part in role- play.

Задачи:

  1. Развитие умения чтения и аудирования с целью извлечения конкретной информации.

  2. Тренировка навыков аудирования с пониманием основного содержания

  3. Формирование навыков устной речи.

Ход урока

I. Warm- up activities

- What date is it today?

- What day of the week is it?

- What’s the weather like?

P.:

^ II. Warm- up activities

T.: Answer my questions, please.

- Do you often go to the cinema ( theatre) ?

- When did you go there last?

- With whom do you usually go to the cinema ( theatre) ? Why?

-Do you discuss the film ( play) you’ve seen?

P.:

^ III. Listening /reading for specific information

Students’ books are closed. (Ex. 1, p.200)

T: When we go out to the cinema or to the theatre with friends we usually discuss the film or the play we’ve seen.

T.: Listen to the young people and say what film Marie and Ken are discussing?

P.: They are discussing the film “Titanic”

Students answer the question and listen to the cassette again in order to answer the rest of the questions.

T:^ Listen to the cassette again in order to answer the rest questions.

( слушают второй раз)

T.: What are their impressions?

P1: They think the film is true to life, magnificent and horrible at the same time.


T.: How do they ask each other about their impressions after watching the film?

P1: - What did you feel about the film?

P2: - What did you like best?

P3:- What did you find exciting?

P4: - Isn’t it a great film?


T: How do they express their likes?

P1: - It was wonderful. I really enjoyed it.

P2: - I’ve always liked such films.

P3: - I didn’t like the scene in the ocean.

P4: - It was so touching in fact.


^ IV. Listening and speaking


( Ex.2, p 200-221)

T: Let’s listen to another pair of young people.

  • Did they enjoy the film they saw last night at the cinema?

P.: - Louis enjoyed the film very much. Catherine didn’t like the film.


Перед прослушиванием второй раз, объяснить выражения из рамочки

( Neutral, formal and informal styles)


T : ^ Listen to the cassette again And find

out how Louis and Catherine ask each other what was the last film they saw and what feelings and impressions they had.( используя фразы в рамочке с.201)

P.: - Did you find that enjoyable? ( formal)

P.: - You liked it, didn’t you? ( informal)


T.: ^ How do they express their likes? Chose the phrases from the box.

P.: - I’m very keen on action films. ( neutral)

P2: - I’ m absolutely crazy about Silvester Stallone. ( informal)

P3: - He is extremely fantastic. (informal)

T.: How do they express their dislikes? Chose the phrases from the box.

P1: It’s rubbish. (informal)

P2: I can’t work any enthusiasm for action films. ( neutral)

P3: Stallone is not my favourite actors. ( neutral)

P4: There is nothing I like less. ( neutral)


V. Pair work

T.: Read the conversations that take place in different situations. If the language is not appropriate, replace some phrases using the expressions from the boxes.

^ Act out new dialogues. ( Card №1)


1. Two friends are speaking.

- Can I ask what your reactions were to the play?

- I must say I am not too fond of the theatre.

(The language is formal. As the conversation takes place between friends I think it should be informal or neutral)


2^ . Two film critics are discussing a new film.

- How did the film grab you?

- I can’t say it appeals to me very much.


( One of the critics uses informal language. I suppose it is out of place)


3. The discussion in a club.

- Did you find the film enjoyable?

- It’s rubbish.

( One phrase is formal and the other is informal)


^ VI. Discussing a film

(Ex 3, p. 202)


T: As soon as”Titanic”appeared jn the screens, it became extremely popular. Read an opinion of an 18- year-old girl about the film and say if she and her friend liked it.

P: Yes, she did like it.

T.: I think you’ve seen “ TITANIC”. Let’s make a film review.


Take CARD № 2. You have got a plan. It can help you in your work.

1. What is the title of the film?

2. What type ( genre ) of film is it?

3. Is the film based on real events?

4. Who is the director of the film? ( James Cameron)

5. Who plays the main parts in the film? ( L. DiCaprio, Kate Winslet)

6. Who are the main characters? ( Jack, Kate)

7. Where does the action take place?

8. Do you recommend to watch this film?

9. How do you feel about such films?

Imagine what conversation might take place between the girl and her friend.

Use phrases from the box and the scheme in your book.

  • It’s absolutely marvelous. There is nothing I like more than such films. They are so beautiful.
